Hard Candy Glamouflauge Concealer in Medium

Watermark Bottle - Glamoflauge

Hello Everyone! Today I thought I would share with you one of my favourite concealers.  The Hard Candy Glamouflauge Concealer in Medium is a high coverage, heavy-duty concealer, meant to cover up any major break outs.  Recently my skin has been acting up and this concealer has been my best friend.

Price and Availability

This product is available at any time and retails for between $6 and $8 CAD.  As far as the shade range there are five different shades ranging from light to medium.

Watermark Swatch - Glamoflauge

Quality

This is a very thick concealer, and has a very thick consistency.  I personally mix this with my moisturizer to relieve some of the dryness and give it a more natural finish.  You only need a very small amount of this product to cover up an imperfection.  I used this everyday on any small or large imperfection that I happen to have.  This is a great concealer for long-lasting, and full-coverage, but it can be a bit finicky to work with.  You have to make sure that it does not look drying and cake up as it can build up really quickly.

Overall I would give this product a rating of 4.5/5 because I do think it is a great product, however, it can be a little difficult to work with.  I think for the price it is totally worthwhile to try if you suffer from break outs on a regular basis.

I hope you have a great day!

L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara in Very Black

Watermark Bottle - Voluminous

Hello Everyone! Today I wanted to share with you my thoughts on one of my favourite mascaras of all time.  This mascara is one of the best volumizing and darkening mascaras that I have ever tried.  It builds up very quickly without looking too clumpy, and does not smudge.

Price and Availability

This product is available at most drugstores in the permanent line and retails for between $6 and $8 CAD.

Watermark Wand - Voluminous

Quality

I personally pair this mascara with a more defining and lengthening mascara to get the best of both worlds.  As of right now I have been pairing it with the Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara and it has been a dream combination. I first apply one layer of the Covergirl, one layer and the L’Oreal and then I finish off by defining my lashes a little more with the Covergirl.   This lash routine has been working great and creating my version of the perfect lashes.  Not only has this combination been makes my lashes look great, but it provides the lasting power I need to get through the workday.  I do use the waterproof formula, but I do not find that it is especially difficult to get off at the end of the night, which is refreshing.   This mascara applied on lashes by itself it very dark and thickening, but not too lengthening.  I have used it by itself and been very happy with the results, but adding the lengthening mascara really just amps it up.

Overall I would give this product a rating of 5/5 it provides everything I would want in mascara and for such a reasonable price point.  I would definitely recommend checking it out, because I do think that it would work for many different lash types.  It is an extremely versatile mascara as you can wear it on its own or paired with others.

I hope you have a great day!

NOTD: China Glaze Frostbite

Watermark Swatch - Frostbite

Hello Everyone! Today we have an oldie, but a goodie! China Glaze Frostbite is an absolutely gorgeous, icy, and incredibly bright blue colour.  This colour just reminds me of the winter.  I don’t know whether it is because of the name, or the shade of blue, but I just think of snow, and ice.  You all know that I am a sucker for blue polish and this one is definitely one of my favourites.  This colour was released with the Ski collection in the winter of 2007, so it has definitely been around for a while.

Price and Availability

China Glaze polishes retails for $6.95 CAD and this one is a part of their permanent line.

Watermark Swatch2 - Frostbite

Quality

This polish has a gorgeous frosty finish, but it does not apply unevenly like some frost finishes. It applies perfect and evenly in only two coats, I would say you might even be able to get away with one coat.  It is the type of colour that just pops on your nails, but if you are someone who does not like bright nail polish, this one is not for you.  I love this colour for my toes in the winter, it is just a nice “wintery” bright pop of colour!

Overall as you can probably tell this is such an amazing nail polish.  I have used up about ¾ of the bottle, and that is when you know I love a polish considering how many I have.  It is bright, fun and such a gorgeous blue, I would give it a rating of 5/5 because I have no complaints.  I would recommend this polish to anyone looking for an incredibly bright, winter blue nail polish.

I hope you have a great day!

BH Cosmetics California Collection

Watermark Palette1 - California Collection

Hello Everyone! In my July Ipsy bag I received a collection of three eyeshades from the brand BH Cosmetics.  It was a mini collection containing one eyeshade from each of their California themed palettes that they released for the summer.  I was very curious to try them out as I have heard many great things about the BH palettes, and have seen countless tutorials on YouTube featuring them.  Although I am not one to wear eye shadow every day, I do like to play with it from time to time.

The mini collection I received came with a stunning purple colour, a gorgeous shimmery bronze shade, and a bright metallic gold colour.  Each of the shade names represents which of the palettes the eye shadow is from.

Hollywood Palette ($17.95 – On sale for $8.95):

San Francisco Palette ($17.95 – On sale for $8.95):

http://www.bhcosmetics.com/products/eyes/bh-san-francisco-palette

Malibu Palette ($17.95 – On sale for $9.95):

http://www.bhcosmetics.com/products/eyes/bh-malibu-palette

Each of the palettes contains 16 eye shadows, 2 blushes, a highlighter, and a bronzer.

Watermark Swatch - California Collection

I was not overly impressed with the quality of these eye shadows.  The pigmentation of these eye shadows is not great, but you can definitely build up the colour.  When you first swatch them they come off very chalky, especially the Hollywood shade, and the Malibu shade is definitely the best quality out of all three.  When you go to blend the shadow it seems to just disappear due to the lack of pigmentation.

Overall I was not impressed with these eye shadows, and I do not see myself getting a ton of use out of them in the future.  You can find better quality, and better value at the drugstore and you still do not have to spend a lot of money.  I would give these eye shadows a rating of 2/5 because they are just not practical.   The colours are pretty, but the quality was very disappointing.

I hope you have a great day!

– Jaimie

Mani Monday: DOTS using OPI What’s With The Cattitude

Lindsay Does Nails Mani Monday

Hello Everyone! Today’s Mani Monday theme is dots, and polka dots is such a fun and easy way to change up your regular manicure.  For my dots I usually use a dotting tool, which I get off amazon your eBay.

Quick Tip – If you don’t have a dotting tool, you can use the end of a bobby pin to create your dots.

OPI What's With The Cattitude

For my dots themed manicure I decided to use OPI’s What’s With The Cattitude and then I used both OPI Hot & Spicy, and OPI Shorts Story for the polka dots on my ring and pinky finger.  I thought this combination would be fun for the summer, and a colour combination that you don’t see all too often.

OPI What’s With The Cattitude applies very sheer, and needs about three coats on your nails for full opacity, but the end result is absolutely stunning, and just glows on your nails.

OPI Shorts Story:

I loved using the contrasting pink and orange polishes for the polka dots, with the baby blue base it really stood out.  Both of the polishes I used for the polka dots worked really well because they are very pigmented polishes without being too thick.

Overall I just fell in love with this manicure and couldn’t wait to share it.  I usually would not think to pair these three colours together, but my boyfriend picked out the colours, and I was pleasantly surprised.  Although it seems unusual they complemented each other really well, and I was very happy with his choices.

NOTD: Covergirl Glosstini in Blue Hawaiian

Watermark2 - Blue Hawaiian

Hello Everyone! With the summer slowly coming to an end, there is no better time than to give some of your bright nail polishes some love before the season is over.  Today I chose to try out Covergirl Glosstini in Blue Hawaiian.  This shade is a bright, absolutely gorgeous blue colour, and I could not be more impressed.  It was released mid-summer in the new line of the mini Covergirl polishes, which they call “Glosstinis”.

Price and Availability

These colours are limited edition, but can still be found in stores, and they retail between $3.00-$4.50 CAD.

Quality

This polish applied perfectly with an even application, great dry time, and a glossy finish.  It was opaque in two coats, but not an overly thick formula.  I really love these Glosstinis, they are great quality, and you can’t beat the price.

Watermark - Blue Hawaiian

Size

In regard to the mini size, I know I don’t use up a full size nail polish too often, so the smaller size is perfect so no product goes to waste!  They are 3.5 mL, which is a good size in my opinion.  I find that the OPI and Essie minis are just too small, and you don’t get the value for the price you pay.

Overall I was really impressed with this colour, and it is definitely one of the favourites that I got.  Bright blue colours are definitely some of my favourites and I was very excited when I saw this one.  It is one of those polishes that just glows off your nails and I could not be more pleased with it.  I would give this polish a 5/5 it’s the perfect size, price, and quality!

I hope you have a great day!

Living Proof Prime Style Extender

Watermark - Prime Style Extender

Hello Everyone! Today I thought I would share with you my thoughts on this “hair primer”.  When I first noticed that there was such thing as a hair primer, I was kind of overwhelmed.  There are so many new types of products constantly being released, and it is difficult to decide which ones to try.  I got a small kit from Sephora of some Living Proof products and it gave me a great opportunity to try a couple new things out.  Living Proof is also that brand that is represented by Jennifer Anniston, and I have always had a total hair crush on her.

Price and Availability

This product retails for $20 USD for 5 oz. or $12 USB for 2 oz. and it can be found anywhere Living Proof products are sold.

Claims

This product claims to be a weightless hairstyling primer that protects and extends the life of your style.

http://www.livingproof.com/buy/prime

This Living Proof Prime Style Extender is to be worked into damp, clean hair and then you can style your hair as normal.  It is meant to pro-long your style, and adds volume.  When it first applied this product it applied smoothly and I had no issues.  My hair styled normally and I didn’t really notice a difference until it was all done.  This product definitely added some body to my hair, but I would not say that it extended the style of my hair.  My hair is easily manipulated by the weather, and that could be why it did not extend the style, but I did find, however, that this product was definitely weightless, and did not feel heavy on my hair at any point.

Overall I did not feel as though this product made a significant enough difference for me to go and spend $20 on it.  This product definitely is on the expensive side, and I just did not see a massive difference in my hair other than the body.  I would give this product a 2/5 because I just felt like it would add an extra, unnecessary step in your hair care routine.

I hope you have a great day!

– Jaimie

Comparison: Heart 2 Art In Mint Condition and Deborah Lippmann Mermaid’s Dream

Watermark - Bottles2

Hello Everyone! Deborah Lippmann’s Mermaid’s Dream became so popular in the nail polish blog atmosphere, and it seemed like there was no nail polish that was remotely similar.   The other day I was browsing the nail polish aisle and I came across a new brand that I had never heard of before.  It had its own display, and the first polish I saw looked exactly like Deborah Lippmann’s Mermaid’s Dream.  I knew that I had to get it and do a comparison.

Watermark - Comparison

The Heart 2 Art polishes were only $1.97 CAD, whereas the Deborah Lippmann retails for $20 CAD.  I was shocked when I saw this polish, and I grabbed it right away!  At first glance the polishes are identical and I couldn’t wait to swatch them to see how they really compared.  I found this one at my local Walmart, I am not sure if they are in other drugstores.

Pointer and Ring Finger – Heart 2 Art In Mint Condition

Middle and Pinky Finger – Deborah Lippmann’s Mermaid’s Dream

Similarities

  • Colour – Both shades are almost identical in colour, I would say that the Heart 2 Art one is slightly more green, and contains a bit more blue glitter dispersed throughout the polish
  • Application – Both of the polishes applied perfectly to the nails, and they needed two coats to get this effect

Differences

  • Price – Deborah Lippmann is $20 CAD and Heart 2 Art is $1.97 CAD
  • Lasting Power – Heart 2 Art’s In Mind Condition did not have as strong lasting power as the Deborah Lippmann Mermaid’s Dream
  • Glitter – The glitter is slightly more chunky in the Heart 2 Art polish

Overall these polishes are really close, easily the closest dupe I have ever seen.  The only thing is that the Heart 2 Art is just slightly darker, and contains more chunky glitter, but other than that they are identical.  I would definitely say Heart 2 Art’s In Mint Condition is a great dupe of Deborah Lippmann’s Mermaid’s Dream.   It is a great option for those of you who cannot get your hands on the Deborah Lippmann one, or those who do not want to spend the money.

I hope you have a great day!

– Jaimie

NOTD: China Glaze First Mate

Watermark1 - First Mate

Hello Everyone! Today I am featuring a polish that I have been totally crazy about recently, because it is that perfect transition from summer to fall.  China Glaze First Mate has that dark hue that everyone craves in the fall, but still a prominent colour that is popular in the summer.  This shade was released with China Glaze Anchors Away Collection in the Spring of 2011, and is now a part of their permanent collection.

Price and Availability

China Glaze polishes retails for $6.95, and First Mate is a part of their permanent collection.

Dupes

OPI Dating A Royal (Dating A Royal is about two shades lighter than China Glaze First Mate)

Watermark Tilt - First Mate

Quality

This polish is very pigmented, and I was very impressed when I first tried it.  I find that it appears much darker on your nails than you expect when you look at the bottle, but it is definitely still a strong blue shade.  This polish was very easy to apply; it only needed two coats, and dried to a perfect glossy finish.  I find that it has great lasting power, similar to other China Glaze crème shades, and it lasts 4-5 days with minimal tip wear, and no chipping.

Overall I fell in love with this polish from the easy to use formula, and the stunning royal blue colour.  I would give it a rating of 5/5 and I would say that it is a must have fall colour for anyone who is crazy for blue nail polish.

I hope you have a great day!
