Mani Monday: Favourite Nude with Essie Topless and Barefoot

Lindsay Does Nails Mani Monday

Hello Everyone! Todays Mani Monday theme is favourite nude.  I must admit nude is not my favourite type of nail polish; I definitely love a little colour.   However nude is a great option for those of you who have very professional jobs, or just prefer a subtler look.

Essie Topless and Barefoot

The nude I chose to feature today is Essie’s Topless and Barefoot.  This colour was released with Essie’s French Affair Collection for the Spring of 2011.  I remember this colour being super popular and a must have from the collection.  I remember I went out straight away and picked up a few colours from the collection.  To this day those colours are my favourite options when it comes to neutrals.

Price and Availability

Essie’s Topless and Barefoot is a permanent shade, and retails for $6.95-$7.95 CAD.

Quality

When it comes to nude nail polish the formula can definitely be finicky.  When creating the polish you have to be very careful with the amount of pigment you use, as it can easily be too much and not complement very many people’s skin tones.  If you add to little pigment the polish can appear far too sheer, and look like nothing on your nails. I would say that this polish is a perfect balance. The tone of the shade is neutral enough to complement most people’s skin, not leaning too yellow or too pink.  I have seen it work on skin tones from very light to darker skin tones as well.

The polish itself applies evenly and opaque in two coats, and is not a super thick or super thin formula.  It lasts about 4-5 days on your nails with no chipping, and minimal tip wear.

Overall I love this polish, if I am the mood for a nude nail polish this is definitely the one I gravitate towards.  It is very universal, a great formula, and overall extremely versatile.  It can be worn on its own, layered under glitters, and the possibilities are endless.  I would give this polish a rating of 5/5 for the fantastic formula, and extreme versatility of the polish.

Nail Polish Favourites September 2013!

ALL

Hello Everyone! Today I am going to share with you my nail polish favourites for the month of September.   September was a great month of discovery as far as nail polish goes.  I tried a ton of new polish, and fell in love with so many of them.  I’m sure you noticed that my obsession with blue nail polish is only growing stronger, and I just cannot get enough.

Watermark Swatch2 - Frostbite

China Glaze Frostbite

The first colour is one that I was rocking at the beginning of the month for at least a full week.  I was just so attracted to the brightness, and frost of this polish.  It is a super bright, shimmery blue shade and I think this colour will be PERFECT for the winter season.

http://addalittlepolish.com/2013/08/29/notd-china-glaze-frostbite/

Watermark Swatch - Keeping Suzi at Bay

OPI Keeping Suzi At Bay

This polish is my favourite type of fall blue shade.  I have never been super into navy, but I crave this deep blue colour.  This colour is very similar to OPI Dating A Royal, but is a full crème finish versus the jelly.

Watermark Jelly Sandwich - Ride the Waves

China Glaze Ride The Waves layered with China Glaze Marry A Millionaire

This combination was my first ever jelly sandwich.  I was super excited to try out this technique and totally fell in love.  I think the abstract look is so fun and different and cannot wait to try other combinations.

Watermark Swatch2 - Noho

Nails Inc. Leather Effect in Noho

This polish is by FAR my favourite of the month.  I have never been super into textured polish, but when I discovered the Nails Inc. Leather Effect I just fell in love. I love the fun texture and twist on a classic black manicure.  I know that this one will be a must have going forward.

I had many nail polish favourites this month, and I had a great time diving into the deeper hues for fall.  I made a ton of new discoveries, and I continue to find tons of new polish that I just love.  I cannot believe the passion, and love I have for blogging, and I am eternally grateful for all of my viewers as they keep me going everyday.  It is not easy to blog everyday, especially considering I go to school full time, and work full time, but you guys make it so worth it!

I hope you have a great day!

Pop Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon in Fuschia Flirt

Watermark Crayon - Fushcia Flirt

Hello Everyone! Today I have something that I have never featured on my blog before, a lip product.  I got the Pop Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon in my most recent Ipsy bag, and I thought I would share my thoughts and opinions.  I got the shade Fuschia Flirt, which is a bright, vibrant pink shade.  Although I got this in my Ipsy bag you can buy a set of these crayons and it retails for $25 USD

http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod5080011

Application

This crayon applied very smooth and evenly to my lips.  It was almost balm like, and it was a stunning colour.  It applies more like a moisturizing balm, than a lipstick, but definitely has the pigmentation of a lipstick.

Swatch - Fuschia Flirt

Quality

It did not have incredible lasting power, but average I would say.  It lasted about 2-3 hours on my lips and wore off nicely as well.  It did not leave a major stain, but a slight hint of colour behind.  It feels very soft and silky on your lips and the bright colour almost throws you off because it feels like you are just wearing lip balm.  I would recommend using a lip liner with this product to prevent feathering because it is such a slick consistency.

Overall I would give this product a rating of 4/5 I didn’t completely fall in love with it, but I did appreciate the formula, and gorgeous colour.  I am not one who is crazy over lip products, and from that stand point I wouldn’t say this is a must have item.  If you are a huge lip product lover and love a bright lip I would definitely say give it a go.

I hope you have a great day!

– Jaimie

Michael Todd Charcoal Detox Deep Pore Gel Cleanser

Bottle Charcoal Gel Cleanser

Hello Everyone! Today I thought I would share with you a cleanser that I have been testing out recently.  The Michael Todd Charcoal Detox Deep Pore Gel Cleanser is a facial cleanser with a thick gel consistency.  Michael Todd True Organics is a newer skin care brand to me, but I have really been enjoying the set I have been using recently.

http://www.michaeltoddtrueorganics.com

Price and Availability

This product can be found on the Michael Todd website, and it retails for $24.00.

Consistency

This product is a thick gel, but spreads and foams easily once it has contact with water.  It is a deep charcoal colour, due to the charcoal ingredients.

Bottle1 - Charcoal Gel Cleanser

Claims

Michael Todd True Organics claims that this cleanser is particularly effective in caring for blemished and oily skin types as well as combination and normal skin.  The creamy vegan cleanser is infused with Activated Charcoal to deeply clean pores of toxins and bacteria for smoother clearer skin.  Activated Charcial is an amazingly absorbent substance, widely known for its ability to effectively cleanse the skin, unclog pores, and remove deeper impurities and dead skin cells.  This product is also Sulfate Free, and does not irritate the eyes.

http://www.michaeltoddtrueorganics.com/index.php/skin-type/sensitive-oily-skin/charcoal-detox-deep-pore-cleanser.html

Results

I have been using this product consistently, twice a day for over a month.  I find that it is best at cleansing the pores, and controlling the oil.  The place where it lacks is blemish fighting, but I do believe my acne is mainly caused by stress.  I really love this cleanser, and I do find that my skin look significantly clearer, smoother, and brighter after I use this product.  It really helps clear out your pores, control oil and brighten your skin.  I really love that this product is on the more natural side of skin care, and it is not crazy expensive.  It does have a slightly higher price point, but I don’t think it is unreasonable.

Overall I would give this product a rating of 4/5 only because it is slightly more expensive, and I did not find that it had any major acne fighting properties.  I really do love this product though, for how it controls my oil, brightens, smooths, and sooths the skin.  I would definitely recommend you check out this cleanser if you are looking into more natural skin care.

I hope you have a great day!

NOTD: Nails Inc Leather Effect in Noho

Watermark Swatch2 - Noho

Hello Everyone! Today I have one of my newfound favourites in the textured polish world.  I have never loved any sort of textured polish, but when I discovered Nails Inc. Leather Effect it was over.  I absolutely LOVE this textured finish, and I am so sad that there are only three polishes in this line.  I do have the red one; so keep an eye out for that one being featured.

Price and Availability

Nails Inc. polishes retail for $11.50 CAD, and these ones are a part of their permanent line.

Quality

This polish is super pigmented; only needing about 1-2 coats for full opacity.  I did not add a topcoat for this polish, so I could get the full leather effect. It is absolutely gorgeous, and would recommend it to anyone, whether you love textured polish or not.  I wore this polish on my nails for five days, and honestly this stuff is like glue on your nails.  All I have was very minimal tipwear and one small chip on my thumb after a full five days of wear.  I cannot rave enough about this polish, and I think it is just fantastic.  I feel as though there are a ton of textured polishes that compare the finish to something and it is absolutely nothing like that object.  In this case this finish is exactly like leather.  I compared it to one of my leather jackets, and it was such a close match. This polish just popped on my nails, and looked so chic, and perfect for the deep fall look.

Overall I am super impressed with this polish, and I fully plan on picking up the one that I am missing from the Leather Effect line.  I would give this polish a rating of 5/5 and would recommend it to anyone!  This polish is just so gorgeous, and it has such a stunning effect on the nails.

I hope you have a great day!

L’Oreal Ever Sleek Smoothing Deep Conditioner

Watermark Bottle1 - Ever Sleek Smoothing Deep Conditioner

Hello Everyone! Today I thought I would share with you one of my new loves when it comes to hair care.  I recently picked up the L’Oreal Ever Sleek Smoothing Deep Conditioner, and I cannot get enough.  It is a super smoothing, and nourishing deep conditioner, and I use it on my hair about 1-2 times per week.

Price and Availability

You can find this conditioner anywhere that sells L’Oreal products and it retails for $8.99 CAD.

Watermark Product - Ever Sleep Smoothing Deep Conditioner

The consistency is a super thick, white cream and I use a good size dollop and smooth it through the ends of my hair.  I leave it in for about 5-7 minutes and then rinse it out.  When it get out of the shower and comb through my hair it is super smooth, and easy to get through.  The best results are after I style my hair it is frizz free, and smooth until I wash my hair next.  It is really crazy how sleek my hair looks right after use of this product and I am super impressed.

I usually have very thick, frizzy, and wavy hair, but with this deep conditioner I find that it nourishing my ends and makes styling my hair a much simpler process.

Overall I am super impressed with this product, and it is my favourite deep conditioner I have tried so far.  I have loved all of the L’Oreal Sulfate Free products I have tried, and would definitely recommend the line.  I would give this deep conditioner a rating of 5/5 because it created such ease when it comes to styling my hair, and it saves me about 10 minutes every time I use it.

I hope you have a great day!

Mani Monday: Stripes

Lindsay Does Nails Mani Monday

Hello Everyone! Today’s Mani Monday theme is stripes.   I have to admit I am not the biggest fan of stripes on my nails, but this subtle glitter stripe that I created is definitely fun.  Striping is a very simple, and easy design to create on your nails if you have nail stripers.  If you are new to nail art this technique is a great one to start off with.

Watermark Swatch - Stripes

For the base of this manicure I chose to use OPI’s Dining Al Frisco, which was recently released with the OPI San Francisco Collection.  For the stripes I used two different glitter stripes from LA Colours to create the two different stripes.

Price and Availability

OPI’s Dining Al Frisco is limited edition, but is still currently available, and retails for $8.95-$9.95 CAD.

The nail stripers can be found almost anywhere and retails for between $3-$4 CAD.

Quality

OPI’s Dining Al Frisco applied a bit streaky as it is a frosty, metallic finish, but the finish product was even.  It was definitely an opaque polish, and only needed about 1-2 coats.

The nail stripers were definitely on the thin side, and each stripe needed 2-3 coats.  I would recommend letting the stripes fully dry before applying a second coat, as you are more likely to get more glitter if you wait until it is fully dry.

Overall I think this is a super fun striped manicure, and I cannot wait to see what the other bloggers chose to create.  Be sure to check out all of the other Mani Monday bloggers, and all of their links are listed below.

NOTD: OPI Keeping Suzi At Bay

Watermark Swatch - Keeping Suzi at Bay

Hello Everyone! Today I thought I would share with you one of my recent favourites! OPI’s Keeping Suzi At Bay was recently released with the OPI San Francisco Collection for Fall/Winter 2013.  It is a gorgeous deep royal blue colour.

Quality

This polish is a dream to apply; it is opaque in two coats.  The colour itself is very similar to OPI’s Dating A Royal except it is not a jelly formula.  It lasted on my nails about two full days before any major chipping or tipwear, which isn’t the greatest, but not the worst.

Availability

OPI retails for $8.95 CAD, and this one is limited edition, but is currently available.

Overall this colour is definitely slowly becoming my favourite.  It is a great formula, and such a universal colour.  It would work for any season, and I just love blue nail polish.  I would give this polish a rating of 4/5 just because it did not last as long as I was hoping.

I hope you have a great day!

– Jaimie
